The General Files and Papers series contains committee minutes, budgets, and general files from the department. The Applications series contains completed applications for student and faculty employment opportunities. The Correspondence series contains various correspondences that involve different members of the department.

Plans for the David O. McKay building began in 1952 after an evaluation by the Brigham Young University College of Education concluded that the existing building for the College of Education were no longer meeting the growing needs of the program. Brigham Young University's college of business became the School of Management in 1975. The school was named for Marriott Corporation founders J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott in 1988. Approximately 1,900 undergraduate students and 1,100 graduate students are enrolled in the Marriott School. The Marriott School is housed in the N.
